People across Sydney and beyond can now listen to Archbishop Anthony Fisher OP’s preaching and teaching wherever they are with the launch of the Archbishop Anthony Fisher OP Podcast.

The new podcast channel will be updated every week with the archbishop’s Sunday homily.

A Dominican friar, moral theologian and former lawyer, and a world authority on bioethics Archbishop Fisher is recognised as one of Australia’s leading Catholic thinkers and is a member of several Vatican bodies, including the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith and the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity.

The podcast responds to one of the key pastoral priorities to emerge from the recent Sydney Synod, where Archbishop Fisher accepted the recommendation to strengthen digital evangelisation across the archdiocese.

It also creates a permanent archive of the archbishop’s homilies and significant public addresses, enabling listeners to revisit them or discover them for the first time.

Over more than three decades of priesthood and episcopal ministry, the archbishop has written and spoken extensively on the Eucharist, evangelisation, bioethics, education, marriage and family.

He has also engaged in depth questions of religious freedom, human dignity, history, spirituality and the church’s engagement with contemporary culture.

“The Archbishop Anthony Fisher OP Podcast forms part of the Archdiocese of Sydney’s ongoing commitment to digital evangelisation, ensuring the archbishop’s preaching and teaching in his own voice can reach audiences well beyond those gathered at the cathedral or in churches, lecture halls or conference venues,” said the archdiocese’s director of communications Ignatius Corboy.

The Archbishop Anthony Fisher OP Podcast is available now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and other major podcast platforms.
