The presence of Cardinal  Mykola Bychok has not gone unnoticed among the cardinals given he is not even 50 years old.

Cardinal Mykola Bychok currently lives in Australia, caring for his fellow emigrants, who, before the occupation of Crimea in 2014, numbered about 50,000 according to the embassy.

He is a Redemptorist and was a missionary in Russia. His pastoral assignments also took him to Newark, in the United States. He was consecrated a bishop in 2020 in Lviv by the leader of the Greek Catholic Church in Ukraine. The pope made him a cardinal in the consistory of 2024.

It is important to note that, for the Vatican, he does not count as a Ukrainian cardinal but as an Australian, because the Cardinal must be designated to the region where he resides.
