The world tells us we don’t need anyone. Back yourself. Make your own way. Depend on no one.
It gets even darker when it says the powerful can do whatever they please.
But this story doesn’t match reality.
From the beginning, we need others. We were held before we could stand. Fed before we could feed ourselves. Loved before we even knew what love was.
That’s all by design: we are made for relationship, for friendship, for heaven!
Easter affirms that reality, and invites us to an even deeper truth, an even deeper communion.
The deeper truth? That we can’t do it all for ourselves. We need a saviour.
The deeper communion? Friendship with God and the saints.
Easter says that amidst the challenges of our world, of our families, finances, selves, we are not left to our own devices.
Our Creator cares. Cares enough to give His Son.
Our Saviour cares. Cares enough to stretch out his arms on Good Friday for love of us. Cares enough to rise from the tomb at Easter as a promise to us of life after death and of new possibilities even now.
Easter says you are never alone and don’t have to do it all by yourself. There is One ready to carry your cross for you and with you.
It’s the best news! Not the story of the strong helping themselves. Not the story of violence, terror, war.
But the story of the God who loves us enough to save us. The story that ends in an empty tomb — and begins anew…
You are not alone. Christ is with you. Rise with Him this Easter!
