The official website for the International Eucharistic Congress 2028 (Eucharist28) is now live at eucharist28.org.
Every parish in the country will be receiving a “Eucharist28 Starter Pack” in the coming weeks, containing a letter from the President of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference, the official prayer cards, posters and links to further resources.
The website itself is overflowing with catechetical resources for all ages (adult, student, child, infant) and of all mediums (print, podcast, video).
Naturally the first podcast and set of materials focuses on the topic of “the presence of Christ in the Eucharist”, and each month for the next three years a new podcast and accompanying set of resources will be uploaded to the website for all to see and share.
We have three years to prepare for Eucharist28, and this first year has been designated ‘The Year of Prayer’.
Throughout 2026, we are all exhorted to rediscover the Eucharist as a mystery that is to be encountered; to fall in love once more with Jesus in the Eucharist.
To initiate this prayerful surge, on 1 March 2026 every parish in the country is being encouraged to spend an hour in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, following the conclusion of Mass that Sunday.
This national hour of prayer is intended to serve as the foundational moment that begins our spiritual preparation for Eucharist28.
Bishop Richard Umbers, General Secretary for Eucharist28 would like all communities to “embrace this opportunity […] expressing the ‘unity in diversity’ that is the Church.”
