The Maronite Catholic Society held its gala dinner on 28 March, bringing together esteemed guests and community leaders.
In attendance were New South Wales Premier Chris Minns, MPs Mark Speakman, Tony Burke, and David Coleman, and members of religious orders.
Bishop Antoine-Charbel Tarabay gave the keynote speech, speaking of maintaining joy, hope, and compassion this Lent.
“Our celebration is not only a reflection of our faith but a testament to our shared commitment to serve others,” he said.
“Through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, we strengthen our bonds and embrace the sanctity of life.”
President of the Maronite Catholic Society John Chedid said the gala was a “testament to the strength” of the community and highlighted the “shared dedication to faith, compassion, and service.”

“The Maronite Catholic Society is proud to stand as a bridge, connecting our traditions and values to the needs of both our local and global communities,” he said.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency Bishop Antoine-Charbel Tarabay for his spiritual guidance, as well as to the dedicated committee members whose tireless efforts have brought this remarkable event to life.”
During the gala, several guests spoke to the value of the Maronites in Australia, with Minns also extending a special thanks to Bishop Tarabay for his leadership.
A highlight of the dinner was the presentation of the Jubilee Year of Hope medals, with I4Give co-founders Leila and Danny Abdallah among the recipients.
The Maronite Catholic Society also reaffirmed its dedication to its future by raising funds to cover university fees for seminarians. The Legacy Foundation Sydney and Lebanese Military Martyrs also made large donations on the night.
