After almost six months of work, Michelangelo’s Pieta is back in view and at the same time, better protected.
Before the beginning of the Jubilee, it was decided the sculpture’s security needed to be improved.
The panel separating it from the public was replaced by another panel of nine sheets of bulletproof glass.
The protection of this jewel of the Vatican is very important and in the past there have already been some scares, such as when a man damaged it with a hammer in 1972.
