Catholic Schools NSW is set to start the new year with two new members of its leadership team as Marita Winters and Jeremy Gasperov start with the peak body in January.
The appointments come following the departure of former Deputy CEO Danielle Cronin, to take on the Executive Director role at Sydney Catholic Schools and the retirement of COO Bernard Ryall after many years of service to Catholic education.
Mrs Winters, the current CEO of Mary Aikenhead Ministries has almost 25 years of service to the church, having also previously served as the CEO of Dominican Education Australia and held positions for Cardinal Edward Clancy AC and Cardinal George Pell AC.
“I am delighted to be taking up this new opportunity to contribute to Catholic education in NSW. I look forward to joining Dallas and the team in this important work,” Mrs Winters said.
On her appointment, CSNSW CEO Dallas McInerney cited her impressive resume which includes serving as a member of the Australian Catholic University (ACU) Senate as well as Chair of the New South Wales Chapter of ACU.
“Marita Winters is one of the most respected lay leaders in the Australian Church with senior experience across several ministries,” Mr McInerney said.
CSNSW Chair Mark Dorney also welcomed Mrs Winters on behalf of the Board.
“CSNSW will benefit enormously from Marita’s deep executive experience, theological studies, and prior roles in the Archdiocese of Sydney and Australian Catholic Bishops Conference, we are delighted she is joining the team,” Mr Dorney said.
Joining her is new Chief Operating Officer Jeremy Gasperov who is finishing his tenure with Greyhound Racing NSW. Prior to this, he served six years at NSW Treasury, and previously held roles at several banks.
Mr Gasperov said he was thrilled to be entering into the service of Catholic education.
“As a Catholic and as someone committed to the values of this organisation—service, accountability, integrity, and collegiality—I am inspired by the opportunity to contribute to the organisation’s success given the impact and responsibility we have in ensuring our schools remain places of faith and excellence,” Mr Gasperov said.
Founded in 2016, Catholic Schools NSW is the peak advocate for Catholic education in NSW.
