The Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney is proud to announce a new presenting partner for Sydney’s largest and most impressive Christmas event, with Deicorp signing on as the major sponsor of Christmas at the Cathedral.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, the property development and construction giant already sponsors hospital charities and research foundations and has added to their list by supporting this extraordinary, free, Christmas gift to Sydney.
Deicorp Managing Director Fouad Deiri OAM said that he’s long admired the wonderful community spirit this iconic event creates in the lead-up to Christmas.
“Seeing so many families together to share in the spirit of Christmas on the forecourt of St Mary’s Cathedral is very uplifting. When the opportunity to support this wonderful event came along, I was delighted to become involved,” Mr Deiri said.
Starting Thursday, 12 December and running right up until Christmas Day, this year’s Christmas at the Cathedral theme will focus on A Christmas Carol, the classic Charles Dickens tale.
Once again, the Cathedral forecourt will come alive with Christmas market stalls, live music acts, and activities, in the free family event open to everyone.
The Cathedral will also be open each night to the public until the extended time of 10pm, with traditional Christmas displays, including a holy nativity scene, towering real Christmas tree and displays telling the iconic tale of Ebenezer Scrooge…his haunting and redemption.
For the first time, the stunning light shows and projections will also expand to be displayed on both the main, and western side entrance of the Cathedral, giving visitors even more to see.
Mr Deiri added he was thrilled to lend Deicorp’s support to host a free family event.
“Everyone who knows me knows how important family is to me. I feel blessed to be able to support the archdiocese deliver a wonderful family event like Christmas at the Cathedral. It means a lot to me to see so many happy smiling faces enjoying this annual spectacular.”
Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney Executive Director Michael Digges welcomed the new presenting partner and thanked Deicorp for their support.
“This is a beautiful event; it is our gift to the community, and it would not be possible without our generous sponsors,” he said.
Mr Digges added that despite being in its thirteenth year, more new innovations were being revealed this Christmas.
“I think it’s just getting better and better. I’m very excited about what we are going to see this year. I invite everyone to bring their family, their friends and enjoy a great show.”
St Mary’s Cathedral is not only Australia’s mother church, but also one of the top tourist attractions in Sydney, with Christmas at the Cathedral now established as one of the country’s most loved annual Christmas displays.
