A documentary by Rome Reports was among the finalists this weekend at the Emmy Awards ceremony in New York.
The documentary is on the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI, which has been aired this season in the United States to great public acclaim.
It had also been broadcast on more than 15 television stations in different countries.
“Benedict XVI in honour of the truth” gathers testimonies of people who lived closely through his pontificate and explain the reasons for his resignation—a milestone in the history of the Catholic Church.
Dr Ramon Tallaj, president of the main sponsor of the documentary, Somos Community Care, accepted the Emmy Award in New York.
“Thank you to the Academy for this honour. And we dedicate it to all the employees of Somos Community Care,” he said.
“But most of all, it is hoped looking forward that peace in this world may return and understanding between human beings, no matter their religion, may arise again. Amen.”
Rome Reports has made more than 20 documentaries to date, focusing on the Vatican, Rome and the pope.
