Holy Spirit Parish, North Ryde, marked a joyful and historic occasion on Pentecost Sunday as parishioners gathered to celebrate both the Patronal Feast of the parish and the 70th anniversary of its foundation.

More than 500 people attended the celebratory Mass, which was presided over by parish administrator Fr Anthony Casamento CSMA and assistant priest Fr George Gorzkowski CSMA.

Assisting at the liturgy was parishioner Deacon Robert Tonkli.

The celebration was filled with prayer, thanksgiving, and a deep sense of community as parishioners reflected on the significance of Pentecost — the birth of the church through the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles.

The occasion also provided an opportunity to honour the rich history of Holy Spirit Parish and to remember the many priests, religious, families, and parishioners who have helped build the parish community over the past seven decades.

Through their faith, sacrifice, and dedication, Holy Spirit Parish has continued to grow as a vibrant and welcoming centre of Catholic life in North Ryde.

Following the Mass, the celebrations continued with an International Food Fair luncheon held on the parish grounds.

Parishioners shared a wonderful variety of dishes representing the many cultures that make up the parish community, including Italian, Filipino, Spanish, South American, and Polish cuisine.

The food fair reflected the diversity and unity of the parish, bringing people together in a spirit of friendship and celebration.

The day was a fitting celebration of both the birth of the church at Pentecost and the enduring life of Holy Spirit Parish after 70 years of faithful service.

It was a joyful reminder that the Holy Spirit continues to guide and strengthen the parish community as it looks forward to the future with hope and gratitude.
