The story of the Virgin Mary’s alleged appearance on the outskirts of Rome

Most read

On the outskirts of Rome, very close to where St Paul was martyred, three children and their father confessed to having seen the Virgin Mary in 1947. Here, in a place called Tre Fontane, she presented herself as the Virgin of Revelation.

Author of The Virgin of Revelation, Francois Vayne said the Lady of Revelation invites us to incarnate Christ in today’s world by living the Word of God.

Both Pope Pius XII and St John Paul II have taken into consideration these apparitions, which speak of a very current element.

“She has come to speak to Tre Fontane of the risk of a Third World War. And she has given a message to a visionary to encourage Pius XII to proclaim the Dogma of the Assumption,” said Francois.

“And the fact is that Pius XII proclaimed the dogma three years after the apparitions.”

The appearances were questioned at the time, especially because the main witness, a municipal employee, had been a fervent communist and anti-Catholic. Journalist Francois Vayne has researched in the Vatican Archives, where he has found convincing details.

“The transcript of the interrogations of the children, who were four, seven and eleven years old,” he said.

“I was very surprised by the naturalness of their testimonies and it seems obvious to me that these children could not lie.

“Another element that struck me is the importance that Pius XII gave to this appearance. Because at the beginning he had everyone against it, theologians of the Doctrine of the Faith who did not agree.”

For years, this place has been a diocesan sanctuary, dependent on the Diocese of Rome, with an ever-increasing number of faithful.
