Catholic chaplains serving in the Australian Defence Force say faith remains vital for personnel in times of conflict and uncertainty. Their ministry continues a legacy of service reflected each Anzac Day.

If anyone deserves to be profiled for Anzac Day, it is Major Bill Jordan. The British press described him as “the bravest man in the war” and he was demobbed with a suitcase of medals, including an MBE and the Military Cross.

St Mary’s Cathedral in Sydney will host an Anzac Day vigil Mass on 24 April, bringing veterans, defence personnel and families together in prayer and remembrance.

Sydneysiders marked Anzac Day with style and reverence, remembering both those who fought and died for our country as well as those currently in the armed forces.

Does the “one day of the year” give you a lump in your throat?  

When baking these biscuits the scent of rosemary fills our home and as I breathe in its aroma, I say a silent prayer of gratitude to God for those who served and also thank the Lord who sees every sacrifice.

As Australians prepared for dawn services, marches and games of two-up for Anzac Day, Archbishop Anthony Fisher OP called on Christians to serve as “war-preventers and peacemakers.”

Catholic school students from Granville’s Delany College took centre stage at the beginning of April to remember and pay their respects to the service and sacrifice made by the men and women of the Australian Defence Force.

This ANZAC Day, let us use the time to reflect on the horror of what could happen were we to walk away from peace
