Twelve-year-old Eimear is preparing to make history at this year’s Carols at the Cathedral on December 16, when she takes her place among the boys in the St Mary’s Cathedral choir, in the iconic event which will see girls and boys singing together for the first time in 200 years.

The St Mary’s Cathedral choir is the oldest permanent musical group in Australia, and for the first time in its 200-year tradition, audiences will witness the inclusion of girl choristers alongside their boy chorister peers, after the college went co-ed this year.

On 18 December, families, and friends packed St Mary’s Cathedral for two magical performances produced by the voices of the majestic cathedral choir. It created an experience of joy and reverence that will hopefully continue for decades.

The choir of St Mary’s Cathedral, Sydney, is bringing a desperately needed dose of Christmas cheer through Carols at the Cathedral, held in the cathedral on 18 December.

In his first year leading the choir at this year’s Carols at the Cathedral, Daniel is hoping to surprise the audience with a wonderful display of music from different periods of time.

The return of the beloved Carols at the Cathedral concert at St Mary’s Cathedral this December, promises to be a highlight of the festive season, rekindling the spirit of joy and togetherness this Christmas.
