It has been one year since Our Lady of the Snows worked an alleged miracle for a young Spanish girl. Jimena had lost 95 per cent of her sight and was already reading Braille. But at a Mass during World Youth Day in Lisbon, she unexpectedly regained her sight.

Scented white rose petals fell from the ceiling at the Basilica of St Mary Major symbolising the miracle that tradition holds occurred in Rome in the 4th century on the site of the basilica—snow in the middle of summer.
