Crowds packed St Joseph’s Catholic church in Moorebank as the community gathered to honour its parish’s patron saint with a candlelit solemn Mass, procession and international food festival on 15 March.

Despite last weekend’s heavy rain, crowds poured into St Joseph’s Catholic church in Moorebank to celebrate the Solemnity of St Jerome Emiliani, founder of the Somascan Fathers who care for the parish community.

Although each Holy piece which Stavros creates is a way to honour Our Lord, his recent build of a High Alatar was even more special as he was able to share it with his young son, Raphael.

Dear Fr John Flader, I sometimes attend Mass in a parish staffed by Somascan priests, who speak of their founder, St Jerome Emiliani. Who was he?

Sixteen years ago Marcel De Maria heard a call to “Go out and give bread.” Together with his old school friends Nick Tropea and Valerian Rego, they founded a charity that with the help of Catholic parishes and schools gives more than 10,000 people doing it tough their daily bread.
