When the Sydney Centre for Evangelisation first began connecting with international guests and collaborators in its mission to form missionary disciples, it quickly became clear that not every story or insight could fit into print or make it onto the main stage.
Some of the richest moments – heartfelt testimonies, unguarded reflections, and Spirit-filled stories shared at conferences and gatherings, often only heard by participants – remained largely inaccessible to wider audiences. Now, those moments have found a new home.
Launching as Advent approaches, Grace Abounds presents extended content from the centre’s conversations with international speakers, contributors, and collaborators.
Some episodes feature moments from the main stage previously experienced only by attendees, while others highlight reflections that go beyond what appears in published interviews.
Listeners can expect occasional full-length interviews, testimonies that didn’t make the final edit, and unfiltered moments that offer deeper insight into the Word and the Church’s evangelising mission. It is not a regular series, but an occasional opportunity to listen deeper, when there is more to share and more to hear.
The first four episodes include previously unshared interviews and addresses. Sr Miriam James Heidland and Fr John Burns, who were recently in Sydney, share reflections on their ministry of healing and the life of the church.
Sr Mary Grace discusses her hopes for her upcoming visit home to Australia for the Australian Catholic Youth Festival in Melbourne, as well as her upcoming Advent women’s retreat and university ministry in Sydney.

Bishop Michael Gielen contributes insights from the recent Alpha Australia conference for Catholics held in Liverpool, while Daniel Ang, Director of the Sydney Centre for Evangelisation, is featured from the same conference, offering a theological and pastoral reflection on hope as a challenge to renewing our lives and communities in Christ.
Ang shared with The Catholic Weekly that the title draws directly from scripture. “In Romans 5:20, St Paul gives us the assurance and confidence that God’s grace abounds – that grace always goes further”, he said.
“When we were considering new ways to share more from our interviews and conversations, in this season of abundance for Sydney and the wider church, Grace Abounds seemed the perfect name.
“It captures that sense of overflow – the stories, insights, and encounters that continue to reveal God’s action beyond what we can plan or script”.
Ang said the podcast is not just about sharing information but about illustrating the transforming work of grace.
“In our world today, where sin, suffering, or discouragement can threaten to dominate, the Gospel reminds us that grace is always greater,” he said. “Evangelisation is not just spreading knowledge of the faith but helping people encounter the grace of Christ that continues to move, reach further, and renew”.
He describes Grace Abounds as “an occasional opportunity to deepen faith and reflection – in the in-between moments of daily life, on the way to work, during a workout, while running errands, or at home”.

Each episode offers something distinct – an honest conversation that reaches the heart, a reflection that deepens understanding, or a testimony that demonstrates faith in action.
“There is richness in what our guests share – moments that speak directly to the Word of God and to the mission we share as Catholics”, Ang said. “This podcast allows us to share those moments more freely, unfiltered, in a way that honours the witness of faith we have been privileged to receive”.
At its core, Grace Abounds reflects the Centre’s conviction that evangelisation occurs not only at large events but also in quieter, grace-filled encounters.
“Often, God’s grace shows itself in ordinary moments – in a conversation before a conference, a reflection that comes days later, or a story that wasn’t shared on stage but stays with you”, Ang said. “These are the moments when grace truly abounds. The podcast makes space for them so others can be encouraged and renewed in their own discipleship”.
Ang hopes the podcast will serve as a reminder that God’s grace is active and overflowing in every circumstance.
“As St Paul says, ‘where sin increased, grace abounded all the more”, he said. “Grace Abounds is our way of witnessing to that truth – that even amid the challenges of our time, the grace of Christ continues to move, call, and transform lives. We hope people enjoy this as a gift as they prepare themselves for the coming of Christ and the dawn of a new year in him”.
