The YMGC (Youth Ministry Game Changers) team is a brand new group made up of enthusiastic and experienced youth leaders looking to share their resources, ideas and knowledge to provide new leaders with “practical youth ministry experience”.
On May 1 the YMGC team received an opportunity to meet the youth leaders of the Sydney Archdiocese at the Catholic Youth Services’ latest CorE night where the youth leaders received tips on public speaking and the art of storytelling.
The YMGC team are holding their second season of the program on the 27th-28th of May at Our Lady of the Rosary Parish in Fairfield. The YMGC program is a two day program where youth leaders will participate in practical youth ministry workshops such as running an ice breaker, facilitating small groups and leading group prayer. On the second day of the programme, the participants will be challenged to lead a local youth group session with the high school students from Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Fairfield.
The YMGC formation program is for new youth leaders who are starting in youth ministry, as well as young people who have been identified as potential youth leaders along with experienced youth leaders who would like to gain additional youth ministry skills.
As we prepare for the exciting times that lay ahead for young Catholics in Australia through events such as the Australian Catholic Youth Festival in December, the Year of Youth in 2018 and Panama WYD in 2019, it is crucial that we have faithful and formed young leaders to walk with and mentor our youth. The YMGC course is just one way of achieving this and I strongly encourage one and all to invest their time in the young Church through this amazing opportunity!
